Extruded U-Nuts vs. Tubular U-Nuts
Both extruded and tubular U-nuts serve the same purpose — snapping onto a panel flange and providing a threaded engagement for a screw — but they're made differently and suit different applications:
- Extruded U-nuts are stamped and formed from flat spring steel stock. They have a low, flat profile and are often used in tight clearance areas where a tubular clip would be too thick. Common on fenders, hood liners, and flush-mount trim.
- Tubular U-nuts have a rolled tube body, which makes them taller but provides a wider panel engagement range. More common on interior trim panels, door cards, and thicker body components.
