About Black & Gold Jobber Bits
Black & Gold oxide is a super premium surface treatment that increases surface lubricity and reduces cutting friction compared to standard black oxide, extending bit life in demanding applications. The 135° split point self-centers on contact, cutting cleanly without a pilot hole on most materials including hardened steel.
Three flats machined into the shank on all 3/16" and larger bits prevent rotation inside a keyless chuck — the most common failure mode when running a hand-held drill under load. The metal case in this set provides better protection than a plastic index for shop environments where cases get dropped, stacked, or stored on metal shelving.
