About Grade 5
Grade 5 is the most widely stocked SAE fastener grade across fleet, industrial, and construction environments. At 120,000 PSI minimum tensile strength, it handles the large majority of structural connections, equipment mounting, and general maintenance work where Grade 2 isn't strong enough and Grade 8 strength isn't required.
Three radial lines on the bolt head identify Grade 5 at a glance. The clear zinc finish provides corrosion protection suited for shop storage, indoor equipment, and typical working environments. UNC coarse thread is the standard for most structural and heavy-duty applications — faster to assemble than fine thread and less prone to cross-threading in the field.
