190 Piece Lock Nut Assortment Starter Kit Low Carbon Nylon
When vibration is loosening connections that standard hex nuts can't hold, a nylon-insert lock nut is the standard fix — this 190-piece starter kit covers the most common UNC diameters in a compact 6-hole small plastic drawer so the right size is always within reach. Low carbon steel body with a nylon insert, clear zinc finish. No lock washer required — the insert creates prevailing torque directly on the bolt thread.

Best For
- Vibration-prone assemblies — any application where a standard hex nut risks backing off under vibration: HVAC equipment, fans, pumps, conveyors, chassis accessories, and trailer hardware
- Automotive and fleet shops — nylon-insert lock nuts are a routine replacement item for bracket mounting, accessory installation, and underbody repairs where a lock washer won't stay in position during assembly
- General maintenance operations — a compact 6-hole drawer keeps multiple UNC diameters organized and visible without taking up significant bench or cabinet space
- HVAC and mechanical contractors — equipment mounting, ductwork support hardware, and vibrating mechanical components that need prevailing torque without secondary locking hardware
About Nylon-Insert Lock Nuts
A nylon-insert lock nut — also called a nyloc nut — is a standard hex nut with a nylon collar insert at the top. As the bolt threads through the insert, the nylon compresses around the thread and creates prevailing torque that resists loosening under vibration and dynamic loads. No separate lock washer is required.
The low carbon steel body handles the structural load; the nylon insert handles the locking. These nuts can be reused several times before the nylon loses its grip — but for critical applications, single-use is the recommended practice.
One important limitation: nylon softens above approximately 250°F. For high-temperature applications such as exhaust hardware or engine components, use all-metal prevailing torque nuts instead. For general shop, equipment, and chassis applications that stay within normal temperature ranges, nylon-insert lock nuts are the standard choice.
Clear zinc finish provides corrosion resistance for shop storage and typical indoor or protected outdoor use.
