3/8in Hose to 1/4in Pipe Hose Brass Assembly

SKU 1493-6B

A brass hose assembly fitting connecting 3/8" hose to a 1/4" NPT pipe thread port. Used to transition between 3/8" inside diameter hose and a 1/4" NPT threaded port in compressed air, water, fuel, and general fluid transfer systems — the standard small-port connection used in air tool drops, pneumatic equipment, and small-bore fluid systems.

What's Included
  • One brass hose assembly fitting — 3/8" hose barb to 1/4" NPT male pipe thread
Specifications
Material Brass
Hose end 3/8" hose barb (for 3/8" ID hose)
Pipe thread end 1/4" NPT male
Thread standard NPT — National Pipe Taper
Compatible systems Compressed air, water, fuel, general fluid transfer
SKU 1493-6B
Best For
  • Compressed air systems — connecting 3/8" air hose to pneumatic tools, regulators, and equipment with 1/4" NPT inlet ports
  • Air tool drops and quick-connect installations — 1/4" NPT is the standard port size on air tool quick-connect bodies; this fitting connects a 3/8" supply hose directly to the coupler body
  • Small-bore fluid systems — water, coolant, and fuel transfer applications where a 3/8" hose feeds a 1/4" NPT component inlet

Need 3/8" hose to 1/2" NPT instead? See the 3/8" Hose to 1/2" Pipe Brass Assembly (1493-6D).

About Hose Barb Fittings and Thread Sealant

Hose barb fittings grip the inside of a flexible hose when the hose is pushed on and secured with a hose clamp. The barb profile bites into the hose ID as the clamp tightens, holding the hose against working pressure.

The NPT pipe thread end requires thread sealant — PTFE tape or pipe thread compound — applied to the male threads before installation. Hand-tight plus 1–2 full turns with a wrench is the standard for most NPT connections; over-tightening can crack the brass fitting body.
