680 Piece Class 8.8 Cap Screw Assortment Starter Kit
Japanese vehicles use M10x1.25 — a fine-pitch thread standard under JIS that differs from the ISO M10x1.5 used on most European and domestic applications. This 680-piece Class 8.8 starter kit includes both M10 pitches alongside M6 and M8, organized in a labeled 24-hole metal drawer built specifically for shops that work on Japanese makes.

Best For
- Japanese vehicle repair shops — Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Mazda, and other JIS-spec vehicles use M10x1.25 as a standard thread pitch across suspension, engine, and drivetrain components
- Import-focused technicians — a single drawer that handles both M10 pitches without hunting through separate bins for the right thread
- General metric shops adding JIS coverage — rounds out an existing metric inventory without requiring a second full-size assortment
- Light manufacturing and assembly — M6 through M10 covers the majority of metric production fastener specs in both ISO and JIS environments
About Class 8.8
Class 8.8 is the standard metric fastener grade for most general automotive and industrial applications. At 800 MPa minimum tensile strength, it matches or exceeds SAE Grade 5 and covers the vast majority of metric fastener specs in vehicle repair and machine shop environments.
Zinc plating provides corrosion resistance for indoor shop environments and most under-hood applications. Class 8 hex nuts are the correct matching grade for Class 8.8 cap screws — using lower-grade nuts with 8.8 bolts can compromise joint integrity.
The JIS thread standard (Japanese Industrial Standard) uses the same nominal diameter as ISO metric but specifies a different pitch for M10 — 1.25 mm versus the ISO standard 1.5 mm. Using the wrong thread pitch on a Japanese vehicle damages threads and can result in fastener failure. This kit keeps both pitches in one labeled drawer so the right bolt is always within reach.
